Who can benefit from using 9am.health?
If you are having a hard time finding a provider close by that can assist you in managing your diabetes, or maybe you just don’t have time to visit a doctor, 9am.health might be the right solution for you.
And if you’re in this situation, you’re not alone. Studies have shown that it can take weeks to see a new doctor – with appointment windows often limited to times that require people to take off of work.
On top of that, many primary care doctors are unprepared to help patients with diabetes. A Johns Hopkins study found that many Primary Care Physicians have significant gaps in their knowledge of risk factors, diagnostic criteria, and recommended management and prevention practices for prediabetes and diabetes.
9am.health was created based on the belief that people living with prediabetes and type 2 diabetes deserve a dedicated and affordable virtual front door for almost all of their diabetes care needs — from diabetes medication management and treatment of other conditions, to at-home testing and most importantly 24/7 support at your schedule.
9am.health currently provides tailored medication management for those with prediabetes and type 2 diabetes who also may have other conditions, like hypertension (high blood pressure) and hyperlipidemia (high cholesterol).
Part of the 9am.health service is a personalized care plan that is regularly optimized, including unlimited messaging or, on occasion, phone- or video-based support from their care team. Medications are then automatically delivered directly to your home, conveniently and discreetly. 9am.health is currently available in 33 states across the US
What does 9am.health provide for people living with prediabetes and type 2 diabetes?
Unlike the “traditional healthcare experience” at a doctor’s office or a pharmacy, 9am.health is a completely digital diabetes clinic, offering expert knowledge by their healthcare team including:
- Providers who prescribe the most appropriate medications
- Pharmacists to assist with prescription questions
- A team of licensed Diabetes Care and Education Specialists and Registered Dietitian Nutritionists that help people best manage their conditions
When you sign up with 9am.health you’ll receive your medications and testing directly at your doorstep, accompanied by a personalized treatment plan at a monthly cost that’s often lower than the average doctor or prescription copay.
How to enroll with 9am.health?
Anyone wanting to enroll with 9am.health can sign up at 9am.health. Here you fill out an online medical questionnaire, providing your current treatment regimen (if any) along with a brief medical history.
Questions? The Patient Advocate Team is there for you via chat or telephone.
9am.health will then connect you with a licensed medical provider via a chat-based, asynchronous experience, where they will prescribe the most appropriate medications.
How much does it cost?
The subscription includes the first online prescription with a personalized care plan for $20 per month.
For any additional medications prescribed to treat other supported conditions, the cost is just an additional $5 per month.
If you want to add in-home testing for A1C and cholesterol (recommended semiannually) you can opt in for an additional $15 per month, which includes shipping to and from the lab with the analysis. There are no additional registration or hidden fees.
While 9am.health does not take insurance and is available only as cash pay, you can expect to spend as little as $20 per month and no more than $50-60 per month for nearly all of your most important diabetes-related health needs — without ever leaving your home.
