Flexibility training is extremely beneficial. As Dr. Sheri R. Colberg described in her post about how to prevent injuries and improve joint health, diabetes accelerates the usual loss of flexibility over time, making flexibility training a priority for people living with diabetes.
I’ll be the first to admit that I’m not very good at flexibility training. Ask me to jump up and down or lift heavy stuff and I’m on it, but somehow, I rarely get around to including flexibility training in my daily routine. That’s why I have asked Lauren Bongiorno to create a yoga-inspired flexibility training video for us today.
Lauren lives with diabetes herself and is a Diabetic Health Coach and Yoga Instructor. She helps people with diabetes live a fit and healthy lifestyle. You can contact Lauren on her website and sign up for a free 30-minute consultation to learn more about her services.
Her flexibility sequence can be used as a standalone workout or after a resistance training session. What I especially enjoy in her routine is the inclusion of yoga based movements and breathing. Getting to a place of calm relaxation after a good heart-pounding workout feels amazing!

Lauren lives by the motto “Decide and Conquer” and is passionate about helping others take control of their lives and not letting their challenges define them. Be sure to follow Lauren on Instagram @Lauren_bongiorno.
