About Jennifer Christensen
I was originally diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes in 2004, two days before my 29th birthday. I had dropped about 50lbs in the span of three months without even trying so I headed to the doctor to find out what was wrong. The next 6 years tried my patience to no end. I watched everything I ate to the point of tears at meals. I increased my exercise. I even added insulin to my regime and still I rarely ever saw a bg below 200. After two doctor changes and finally a C-peptide test, it was determined that I had been wrongly diagnosed as Type 2. I had, in fact, Type 1 diabetes. I am not complication free. I have neuropathy in my feet and deal with pain every day. Three of my five foot surgeries have been because of nerve issues. However, I don’t let any of that stop me, at least not for very long.
