These Smoked Salmon and Cream Cheese Wraps include sharp onion and fragrant herbs for a super delicious and healthy breakfast you can eat on the go!
After our favorite brunch place in Santa Monica closed last year, we’ve been missing their delicious smoked salmon platter.
So we thought, “Why not make it ourselves?”
There is no cooking involved — you just assemble the ingredients and have an awesome breakfast ready in under 10 minutes!
I swapped the traditional bagel for a low carb tortilla, which makes it handier to eat and brings the carbs down, making these smoked salmon and cream cheese wraps a perfectly healthy breakfast.
How to make smoked salmon and cream cheese wraps
These wraps don’t require any cooking. They’re so easy and so tasty, you may find yourself making them every morning!
Step 1: Warm the tortilla in the oven or microwave (pro tip: Warm it between 2 pieces of moist paper towel to keep it from drying out).
Step 2: Mix together the cream cheese, basil, and pepper, then spread it onto the tortilla.
Step 3: Top it off with the salmon, arugula, and finely sliced onion.
Step 4: Roll up the wrap and enjoy!
They’re a perfect, simple, healthy, and DELICIOUS way to start your day.
Mixing up your herbs
I like to add some flavor to the cream cheese by mixing in herbs.
The classic herb to use with salmon is dill, but I actually think that basil and smoked salmon is an even better flavor combination.
I used dried basil this time because I always have that in the kitchen. But of course, finely chopped fresh basil would be even better.
Smoked salmon will stay fresher in its original packaging. For that reason, I would recommend making these wraps the day you plan to eat them rather than making them ahead of time.
If you want to prep them in the morning to bring to lunch for work, just store the wrap in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
Want to do some of the prepping ahead of time? You can always chop your red onion and make the cream cheese mixture. Then, store them both in the refrigerator until you’re ready to assemble your wrap!
