These Smoked Salmon and Cream Cheese Wraps include sharp onion and fragrant herbs for a super delicious and healthy breakfast you can eat on the go!
After our favorite brunch place in Santa Monica closed last year, we’ve been missing their delicious smoked salmon platter.
So we thought, “Why not make it ourselves?”
There is no cooking involved — you just assemble the ingredients and have an awesome breakfast ready in under 10 minutes!
I swapped the traditional bagel for a low carb tortilla, which makes it handier to eat and brings the carbs down, making these smoked salmon and cream cheese wraps a perfectly healthy breakfast.
How to make smoked salmon and cream cheese wraps
These wraps don’t require any cooking. They’re so easy and so tasty, you may find yourself making them every morning!
Step 1: Warm the tortilla in the oven or microwave (pro tip: Warm it between 2 pieces of moist paper towel to keep it from drying out).
Step 2: Mix together the cream cheese, basil, and pepper, then spread it onto the tortilla.
Step 3: Top it off with the salmon, arugula, and finely sliced onion.
Step 4: Roll up the wrap and enjoy!
They’re a perfect, simple, healthy, and DELICIOUS way to start your day.
Mixing up your herbs
I like to add some flavor to the cream cheese by mixing in herbs.
The classic herb to use with salmon is dill, but I actually think that basil and smoked salmon is an even better flavor combination.
I used dried basil this time because I always have that in the kitchen. But of course, finely chopped fresh basil would be even better.
Storage
Smoked salmon will stay fresher in its original packaging. For that reason, I would recommend making these wraps the day you plan to eat them rather than making them ahead of time.
If you want to prep them in the morning to bring to lunch for work, just store the wrap in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
Want to do some of the prepping ahead of time? You can always chop your red onion and make the cream cheese mixture. Then, store them both in the refrigerator until you’re ready to assemble your wrap!

Can you please specify what is the name of the low carb tortilla?? Thanks!

There are quite a few options now but my favorite is the OLE Xtreme Wellness Whole Wheat tortillas. You’ll see the net-carbs are only 10 grams

What brand of low carb tortilla do you use? I tried Mission(I think it uses wheat starch) low carb and got and 100 point spike 90 minutes after breakfast. I gave up on low carb tortillas and switched to Ezekiel tortilla (21 net). I would love to find one that worked for me.

I am not diabetic, but I am trying to adapt a healthier lifestyle so I can finally lose the 100 lbs I want and prevent diabetes, for it runs on both of my families. I absolutely am OBSESSED with anything smoked salmon. I would love to make these the day before, for I have to get up extremely early for work and I am always on the run for my job, so I do not have the time to assemble these at work for when I do have a breather at work, I am a load of paperwork that I have to complete before it is time to go home. Now..how bad will it be that I don’t make these the day of?

Hi – welcome to the site!
I do enjoy smoked salmon too. You can definitely prepare them ahead of time, but the reason we recommend eating them the day of, is that you risk the tortilla becoming soggy. Another idea would be to prepare it all the day before and just quickly assemble in the morning.
Good luck on your journey

Update: I made these and I was in love. I did make them the day before and I’m glad I did because, like usual, I literally didn’t have time to eat, so I ate them while doing my rounds lol. It was not soggy at all. Will be making these again!

Awesome! Thank you for the update

I made these and they are incredibly delicious!
Unfortunately I cannot tolerate the high sodium due to dietary restrictions but highly reccomend the recipe for those who may eat that much salt!

Silly question, is the salmon cooked or raw?
Christel Oerum
It’s smoked salmon. You could use regular cooked salmon instead if you prefer

We had these for lunch today and they were delicious

Just made these! Very good. I actually put a little dill in the cream cheese too which was excellent.

What size tortilla are you using?
Christel Oerum

This looks delicious! I love smoked salmon and cream cheese on bagels — never thought of trying with a low carb tortilla. Thanks for sharing! 🙂
