Keto-friendly pizza toppings

When it comes to making your perfect pizza, you have tons of options to choose from. There are so many delicious low-carb toppings!

First, you want to choose a low-carb sauce with no added sugars, so be sure to check your labels. You could also make your own keto tomato sauce right at home. Or, for something other than red sauce, try using the basil pesto from our vegan cauliflower pizza recipe as your base.

Next, choose your cheese. To keep carbs at a minimum, I recommend shredding your own mozzarella. Pre-shredded cheese uses preservatives that will add carbs to your meal.

Then, finally, the glorious toppings. There are so many options for proteins, like pepperoni, bacon, sausage, chorizo, shredded chicken, ground beef, prosciutto… you get the picture. After that, you can throw on your favorite veggies, like roasted peppers, diced jalapeños, sautéed spinach, pan-roasted mushrooms, caramelized onions. Again, the sky is the limit.

As long as you’re choosing low-carb toppings, you can have as much fun as you want building your perfect pizza. There are so many amazing combinations to try, you could have a different kind of pizza every night of the week!

Storage

Doesn’t it sound nice to have a few low-carb crusts waiting for you in the freezer, ready to be baked into a delicious pizza at a moment’s notice? Talk about a great way to meal prep!

Once you’ve finished baking the crust, allow it to cool completely before transferring to an airtight container. You can store in the freezer for up to 2 months.

If you have leftover pizza, you can store extra slices in an airtight container in the refrigerator. I recommend eating within 3-4 days.
